since i want to someday build a fuax 1903 sniper i will bide my time for one thats either already been nicly altered or within reach of being rebiult up to semi original specs. i know i will never be able to aford an original a4...besides who would want to shoot it?

...as a matter of fact Sac-he gave them,but in my concience,I could not live with myself if I didnt offer him payment-so I insisted he accept market value....the fella is 83-goin' on 84....and on Social Security.....he pondered it a bit...and hemmed and hawed and declined,but I knew he could use it-and he finally said ok....I honestly would not have felt right if I didnt do that...:grinning-thumbsup:

i did not know about you eventualy paying for them. great thing for you to do man! it is also great of him to give them to you without concern about monitary value. its something you dont see often today.

....no Sac-he was in the US Navy....Aviation Bosun's Mate 2nd Class on board the CVE 68-Kalinin Bay....do a Google on that and the Battle of Samar in Leyte Gulf in Oct. of 44....you'll mess yourself when you read what they went thru-his best buddy was killed right next to him.....go to the "other rifles section and look for my post on the Jap stuff he brought back-have pics-and you'll see him-and me there...he's in the book "Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors" by Hornfischer,about the battle...his pic is in there too...came out a best seller last year

...this is gonna be hard to say in a way(bein' a K98 afficianado that I've been for years:) )-but after shooting the Smith-Corona yesterday for the first time...........:tard: ....I'm kinda reeeeeeealy likin' the A3's a lil more...:grinning-thumbsup: ...(see pigpoop post on "The Shed);)

Mario, Nice rifles for sure. I like the old Springfield's and I'd like to find one for myself too.
But $14.75 each is not fair market value, is it? Then again, those are Vet bring backs, not worth as much. (hehehe)

Mario; you are a LUCKY MAN! I really like my 03; that old school rear sight takes some getting used to, but the trigger on mine is the best milsurp one I have. Gotta get me a 98 just so I can compare. Have a "supposed" bringback BRNO but it was such a mess I am afraid to put a round thru it. Will try and post pics of it someday; a great wallhanger tho..........PS Like the Jap you got too!

It had been stored in a shed for about 50 years; the bolt was rusted shut! I soaked it for days to get it apart...............will try and post a pic tonite
