....thought I'd post this here for giggles....I went to Boot Camp at Great Lakes back in'72....they had us drilling with (what at the time) all I knew was bolt action rifles....since then it'd bugged me what they were....was guessin' 03's or 03A3's...well,a couple nites ago I finally came across the old "Boot Graduation Book"....and found myself in a few pics....I now know what they were-any guesses...???:xxrotflmao:

.......a closer shot of the racks...this was the best I could get taking pics of the pics in the book...the racks extended to the right for a looooong way....and I've since wondered if any of these may have made it to CMP-or had been parted out.Shortly after these pics were taken it was off to Denver for Intelligence training-then assigned to VA-75 aboard the USS Saratoga-Yankee Station, then Med Cruises...pretty much all over....what a wild ride it was......and I'd do it again in a heartbeat...but back then I just didnt get it...:xxrotflmao: ;)

The racks remind of the time I got to go to my cousins Recon companies armory at Camp Pendleton. It wasnt till about 4 days later that what happened finally sunk in.

I was meeting a good number of important people: I met a Colonel, forgot his name, but I was told he planned almost the whole attack for the Marines in OIF a few years back and briefed all the generals on it.

What I noticed was that contrary to what I thought earlier, absolutely nobody had an M92. They all had 1911s. Really nice ones too, with all the Wilson Combat upgrades.

Also in the armory, they had a number of Threat Weapons. Just about every make of AK you can think of including SKSs and Dragunovs. Now after handling one, I really want a Dragunov, too bad Impact guns doesnt have anymore...or anything for that matter.

A bunch of guys told me to pick up and bring them a Browning M2 barrel from its case in the corner to where they were cleaning the weapons. When I tried and couldnt, they laughed and told me the carrier they use for moving the Browning's parts was outside:) Good times were had by all.

Those are some cool pics Mario, and those looked like the ol' 03A3's too, judging by the rear sight too. Thank you for sharing those pics with us as well. I never knew you were in the Navy though. ;)
