February 8, 2009 Mystery Mauser
Later this week heading for the boonies with questionable Internet coverage so George kindly agreed to swap 2/8 for 2/13. Watch for his American handgun on Saturday. For today (Monday) send me a PM with country of origin, name of patent holder and type of weapon.

Re: February 8, 2009 Mystery Mauser
Another hint I had thought about was something like "Guy jumps out of airliner with a bunch of money". But I decided to go with a gunslinger - Marshall Will Kane. With or without the hints, three skilled marksmen hit the bullseye. To quote Jean-Yves:
- Country: United Kingdom - Name of patent holder: Joseph Rock Cooper, Birmingham, UK - Type of weapon: Pepperbox (Ring trigger underhammer pepperbox) Joseph Rock Cooper patented his design, no.86 for 'many barreled revolving pistol and gun', on 7th December 1843. He already was granted an English patent on April 10, 1838 and a Scotch Patent on June 22, 1838 on a similar firearm. J.R. Cooper & Co. were located at 24 Legge Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire. The company was founded by Joseph Rock Cooper. This English gunmaking business maintained offices in London in the early 1850's. Their "revolving pistols" (pepperboxes) were exhibited at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851. Winners today: ccmsd GWLindsay duncaninfrance. Good goin' guys!
